This September, a new academic year began despite incredible obstacles. The crisis in Syria, now well into its third year, has left over 4,000 schools – which have been damaged, destroyed or used to shelter displaced people – closed for learning.
On top of that, nearly 2 million Syrian children aged 6–15 years have dropped out of school since the last academic year.
